engine trouble (thinks it\'s choke or idle, not too sure)

Hey everyone. How are you guys doing? Thanks for all of the help that you guys have givin me in the past, and it's for that very reason that i come back to you. My truck just won't stay healthy...haha. But now to the problem...everytime i start the truck it idles fine...no problems. But then i put it in gear and i have to give it gas constantly (even while holding the breaks) so it doesn't die. It starts right back up, it just won't stay on while in gear....any help?
    Thanks a lot you guys.

Your car can stop on a dime...but my truck can climb a mountain of em.

I would start with timing and idle. When is the last time your carb was gone through? Are all of your plugs firing good? Do you have good compression in all of the cylinders? Is your air cleaner clogged? The fore mentioned vacuum leak? etc, etc, the list could go on and on.
