I have a presentation regarding animal testing in my ethics class. If you could, I'd like you to vote on my pole, er, poll. Thanks!

Well since no one else has responded, there are so many damn humans that would just love to be tested on for the money why should we test animals? Well the answer is because it's much more cost effective to test animals.

Don't like animal testing. They don't have a choice.

Peter Singer argues against animal testing with a utilitarian approach. Tom Regan argues against it with a deontological approach.

Cohen argues on behalf of animal testing, but his argument somewhat falls into some problems regarding what is classified as a kind. What logical approach can one use to seperate retarded humans from animals.. He basically fails to present a coherent argument on behalf of this.

What text do you use? If you use the same one as me, I can give you lots of good page numbers.

Personally, I believe in animal testing. As far as finding a good philisophical framework to support it, I've yet to do.

I chose not to vote , as I can't answer with the wording of the selections .

Looking at my cat , dog , and fish . I see us as protectors and caregivers .

Looking at the fish I catch and release , I see respecting nature .

Looking at the overabundance of pest animals , such as gophers , rats and the like , I see testing as a viable means of population control .

Since HUMANS in our nature take it upon ourselves to do that . And if its in our nature , its natural .

So test on certain troublesome species .

I hate to hear about some animal expieriments but I sure would appreciate a cure for a loved one with a problem even if it meant testing on animals had to be done to get it.

I would have answered twice if given the option: yes on medical testing, but animals do have rights; albeit much lesser than those of humans.

i think animals should be treated with far more respect then they are in the united states. their are rapists and murderers given rights in prison when they obviously not fit to be treated with such respect or any imo. test on the criminals that have done something wrong and not on defenceless animals. people have more potential anyways for testing because they have more in common biologicaly

wow... interesting moral dilema... kill an animal because we can... so that we may (possibly) survive... or have makeup... or food color.... or a drug that artificially keeps us surviving

animal testing is immoral and ineffective...

I dont eat them.. I do my absolute best not to kill them...

experiment on humans for the "things" we want to learn

Regarding the testing on humans, where do we draw the line at "cruel and unusual?" Do more serious offenses net a more dangerous treatment? Do you think this would be cost-effective?

I have zero problems testing on a death row inmate like they routinely do in china...

man is the cruelest, nastiest. dirtiest being of all... way less socialized than "animals"
