    European radio\'s work in U.S. ?

Okay, here's the deal. The Mini Cooper i just bought was imported from Germany. It came with a JVC in dash CD player. The head unit is definately European, because it shows the time in 24 HR time. The radio reception is total crap, and it doesnt want to play CD's. Does anyone have experience with foreign gear ? and do you now if our CD disc's use a different format like VCR's do ?

    Tori,

I'm not aware of any "regional" CDs.... that IS an issue on DVD stuff.

Is the deck a DIN-size? Could a simple swap be all that's necessary???

Does the FM section have the ability to tune to odd numbers? If I remember right, the US FM stations are all on odd frequencies, 96.1 103.9, etc., while in Europe the FM stations are all on even frequencies, 96.0, 103.8, etc. Many newer radios will lock onto either, but older ones were typically made so that they only worked in the country where they were sold. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I can't help with the CD question. I don't know of any incompatibility issues there.

Hey Greg.... Yeah, its just a regular DIN style radio. And i have another, but before i throw this one away i thought id ask someone that knew.

Also... yeah it gets both odd and even stations, and for all i know the antenna maybe the problem, but till my back is better, i cant even look under the dash.
Good to know that there isnt an issue with the CD compatability, maybe this thing can be fixed.

Maybe the antenna needs subtitles to understand the signals. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
