Ok i replaced my carb yesterday thinking that was my problem. I cut off my muffler cuz it was all dented in. That did not fix the problem at all. My carb is adjusted good and the occasionally back fires and always makes a gargaling noise when I take my foot off the gas at 55+ mph. Also does the gargaling noise when I rev the engine and the RPMS are coming back down.

Can someone please help. Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Gargling noise... That's the first time I've heard it called that, but it's a good description! Does it backfire or just make popping noises? My truck makes the gargling noise too, I think it's common with low restriction exhaust and headers, if you don't have headers then I have no idea...

I was screwing around with my timing the other day and mine started to gargle on the high way and would backfire so I retarted it a bit and it was fine. maybe check you timing?

No, you need to get a timing tab. Nobody can time an engine correctly without a light.

Well I found out my popping/back firing problem. There is this choke thing on the pass side on the exhaust manifold. Its vacuum operated, well there is no hose to it so it is closed off. This is to help the engine warm up faster, well I am just going to wire it open and leave it that way. I will let everyone know whats my out come in about 1 1/2 hours. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Mine use to make the same noise, and I guess God fixed it, cause it went away on its own. Then a few months later, it has come back... I think it may have something to do with a bad distributer. Any suggestions??

Mine has been doing that for a while too. Pretty much exact same discription. It sounds like a boat when it's idleing though.

At Blazer Fest this year, Crawlin73 goes "dude, your rig sounds like a Mastercraft!" /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

I'm interested in seeing where this one goes.

does that mean you unplugged the unit? I haven't been able to check it out yet. Or does it mean you plugged up the hole?

There is a lil c-clip that holds the arm on it. I just took off the c-clip and opened it up and wired it that way.

okay, so that arm that's hooked up to it goes in and out, right? Just left the arm hangin'?

What hose is supposed to be plugged up to that anyway?
