entirely stupid to take? expired 12/28/05. I have enouhg left to take it for a week or so and see if the symptoms are cured before I decide to go to the doctor to get another prescription. So is it an entirely stupid idea?

What kind of pills? If they're pain pills, I would go for it. If you're hurtin' and they're only a few months out of date, I don't think it'll kill ya. I do it all of the time. My wife is a pharmacy tech and she says most drugs get weaker when they get old. If it's an antibiotic, you shouldn't have any leftovers. You're supposed to take the whole course. Taking a short course of antibiotics can lead to a relapse of a stronger and antibiotic-resistant infection.

Should be fine. As noted above, most meds weaken with age. i have heard that some chemical structures cahnge as they get far past expiration, but a few months shouldn't matter at all.

antibiotics are the ones you don't want to mess with with a long overdue expiration date, a month, maybe two is not bad, anything longer, toss them in the toilet,,

pain pills, i have taken 1 year old pain pills and nothing wrong with them.

I ate 5-year old Benadryl once and lived.

'Course, that might explain a few things as well...
