"Nobody"??? you must be thinking of "Sylvia"...

She might not be WELL known, but she will be pretty soon!..she's been singing since she was a toddler, and was a country artist for a while during the 90's,but returned to her bluegrass roots...

Rhonda has won the best female bluegrass artist award EVERY year since 2000!...SIX years in a row!..and even her better known friend Alison Krauss hasn't won it more than once or twice..she's a well kept secret, not a nobody!..she plays over 300 dates a year, and is in high demand..look at the tour schedule under her picture..how many artists have that many concerts, and have venues looking for more?...or does a "Bluegrass Cruise" on a Carnival ship for fans at least once a year..all planned and booked by Rhonda herself!..she also holds a fan club party at her family's camp ground in MO ,starting last year..

No,I'm not "stalking" her...Rhonda is happily married, has 2 daughters (one in college, other in high school)..besides,she's too young for me--she'll be 44 this year!..:eek1:

I just like her voice, and watching her play mandolin and fiddle--an extremely talented woman!..the fact she is a very attractive woman and is a nice person is just icing on the cake..yes,she DID give me a car!..but I didn't ask for it,she bought it and gave it out of the goodness of her heart..she's helped MANY other people out too...I was blown away by the fact she'd do something like that for a stranger she'd only met twice briefly before..the world could sure use a lot more people like her...

Well,my beer must be cold by now..time to head out to the shop !..maybe I'll listen to Rhonda's CD's...:D

I support a lot of unknown bands. Why, because the music is better, the musicians are more accessible, as well as real people and because they aren't just doing it for the money. Many of todays entertainers are there for the money only.
In todays radio marketplace the superhuge corporate station make or break an act. Clear channels policy of a consideration fee of $50,000. to decide whether or not to play most cd's sucks.

Damm I just started arguing on the internet:doah:

Most people in the workforce are only doing what they do for the money, only the truly lucky happen to love what they do.

I made no mention of working for free. Everyone (okay except for the independently wealthy) has to work for a living.

Sings as good as she looks.....

Rhonda probably will never get the recognition she deserves, just as many other talented females in country and bluegrass I also like never did, which in my opinion is a sin.....I feel they were cheated, they are much more talented than the ones you hear constantly on the radio ad nauseum..Its not a lack of talent keeping them off the charts..its music business politics!..

I agree that once you hit 40 in country music, your career isn't likely flourish or grow, especially if your a woman..its a sad fact, and its very unfair to both the artists and their fans,to see them held back, when you know they could have been every bit as famous ,and posess more talent than the ones the radio "pushes"!...

I wish they had given her, and the others more exposure and airplay...Rhonda was on TNN during the mid 90's in a few videos, when she decided to give country music a shot..and she got rave reviews by all the big name critics in nashville..but there seems to be a stone wall between radio and bluegrass, and even "country" music, they play only newer songs that hardly resemble country as I knew it...only certain artists backed by certain labels get all the attention..she was soured by her failure to attain "country" recognition,so she decided to return to her first love, bluegrass music..which sadly, has NO radio airplay in my area at all...

Rhonda and Kathy Mattea, and Suzy Bogguss,Pam Tillis, have all told me music is their LIFE,not just "songs"..they will always play and sing, even if it means being in a room with only 500 fans instead of thousands..or at a holiday inn lounge, etc,as long as they have loyal fans that "get it"!....its in their blood, and they don't do it just for the money..they get a lot of support from the fans, and they really care about you--they share personal losses, daily "blogs" of life on the road, and do countless charity benifit concerts---they get to know you pretty well, and are always glad to see you at their concerts..

I feel more like a friend of theirs, than just another fan..many of them E-mail me,and wrote me cards and letters when I lost a good friend who was also a big fan, 12 years ago..I never expected that!..I got a lot of emotional support from both their music AND their friendship..more than I deserve!..

..I attended a concert in NH last year that Kathy raised 80,000 dollars for cancer and aids research....pretty cool when you can hand over 80 grand, and have a great time playing a concert, even if you are doing it for free!..

As for the car,I was called up onstage by Rhonda,at one of Rhonda's concerts a year ago last week..I was shocked when she called my name, and asked if I was there !..when I got up on the stage, she asks me to take my coat and hat off..thought she was going to give me one of her "t" shirts with her photo or something..but she hands me a "t" shirt that said "Burlington Motors" on it..I was confused!..then she hands me a set of keys, and tells me the owner of the car lot,and herself wanted to present to me a 1995 Ford Contour!..I was totally shocked..still have a hard time believing it was for real, and that its actually mine!..

I had only met Rhonda maybe 2 or 3 times before, after other concerts briefly..I was very suprised when some other fans I see a lot at her concerts and others told me she asked a lot of questions about me,I had told her my mom was not doing too well with her emphasema at one of the other concerts..,my truck had lost its motor on the way to another concert a few weeks before, and I had to scramble to get it running in time to see her show-
and that it had been very hard for me to hold a real job, keep my vehicles running and road legal, and attend the shows I love so much.. AND be here at home to attend to my mom's needs, all at the same time....:doah:

Rhonda never forgot that I guess--she was impressed how much I had to struggle to keep afloat, and spend my hard earned cash to go see her live, and buy her cd's.....she took much of that day before the show looking at cars, and picking one out for me!.She said she wanted me to have a safe car to go to the concerts in,and to save gas and I'd not have to drive my antique truck long distances anymore,or borrow moms van everytime a show was 100 miles away ..
    ..I was completely flabbergasted!:eek1:

now,how many music artists would do that ???
for a fan they hardly know??...only Elvis comes to mind, and Rhonda has nowhere near the means Elvis had!..in fact, she was suffering from a bout with pancreitis, she had surgurey on her pancreas one year earlier, and was having a flare up of pain the night she gave me the car..she was on her way to the Mayo Clinic in MN the next day,to be looked over by a specialist--yet she spent at least an hour talking to me,and looking the car over out in the parking lot..I wanted so bad to ask her to try the back seat out with me,but I was a gentleman..after all,she is married..:doah: :p: ..she did give me a few good hugs!!..:D

She also lost 2/3 of her large intestine to a real bad food bourne infection last august, caused by a bad burger in denver.she recovered and was back on tour in about a month!...yet in spite of her health problems, she's always happy and smiling, and has a big hug for you ...I have never seen her in a bad mood..I could learn a LOT from that woman!..I'm almost always in a bad mood, except when I'm at a concert!..
