Factory aluminum intake on 95 tbi?

    just got a 95 2500 this week and i looks like it has an aluminum intake for the tbi. looks stock, has the firing order on it and such. was this normal for this year?

    all tbi motors have aluminum intakes.

    Yep, on some years they just painted them black. The 4.3L V6 in my '91 S-Jimmy had a factory aluminum intake that was painted black. The one on the 350 in the '94 Suburban is just natural aluminum color. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

    Many (if not all) of the 454 TBI intakes were cast iron.

    Yep! Forgot about the 454's. The one I got my 454 throttle body from had a cast iron Q-Jet intake with a cast aluminum adapter between it and the throttle body. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

    you are quite correct, I forgot about 454s, they were cast iron QJet manifolds.

    My buddy had the Qjet intake & adapter on his '88 Burb. However, every 454 TBI I've seen in the restyled trucks (88-95) had a one piece cast iron intake though. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

    Maybe a Gen V change? /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif
