Small blocks came with a 8" and a 6.75" What were the applications and considerations when upgrading, have a 8" now.

Timing tab CAN be in a different place based on year and dampener size, so an 8" balancer may not fit, or the keyway could be in the wrong place. I'm not 100% certain that applies to all small blocks, but I've heard of problems with a timing tab that sits almost at 12 o'clock relative to the balancer, and one that sits about 2 o'clock relative to the balancer.

I've got an 8" balancer timing cover in the garage, and the tabis at 2 o'clock.
