What is the most common cause of failure? I would like to get it working, but don't know what to look for.

    Thanks

I thought these things were busted right out of the crate.
Put a picture of your significant other over the space that the clock is supposed to be.

Sorry I don't have any real advice. I'll definately be watching this one for a fix though. I don't think I've ever seen one that works.

    Good luck.

Mine would work sometimes and sometimes it wouldn't so I disconnected it eliminating any possibly of it draining the battery

My '85 K30 has the factory dash clock and it works just fine and dandy.

The only problem I have with it is the little chrome knob thats on it for turning it is broken off and a new one just does not seem to hold on. /forums/images/icons/frown.gif
I'm always needing to use vise grips to clamp on the little "turner" and adjust the time with the clamps. /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

the clock in my 81 worked like a charm up until about 2 months ago when my gf decided to change the time to match her watch... the damn arm broke.

It still tells time but it's off about 6 hours. I guess I could pull the battery cable until the real time and the one on the clock match, haha.

I just think they are crappy clocks. Seriously, not many of the GM clocks of that style, whether in cars or trucks, seemed to last very long. You might check some of the restoration catalogs, maybe for Corvettes or Camaros, I *think* some company was rebuilding them, with newer/better components. But thats a lot of work for a truck clock lol.

Another idea is to use a GM digital car radio, then you could just get rid of the stock clock entirely.

Mine wouldnt keep time so I disconnected mine as well. It also used to bug me to death when I was camping,(we usually sleep inthe 'burb) and just heard "tick, tick, tick" all night. Man that got annoying!
