I have noticed over the years here at COK5, I have never seen another K5 with the factory rear rollbar like mine. I know GM made a rollbar behind the front seats on most full top K5s. Could someone take a look at my readers ride pic, and tell me if you have seen this factory rear rollbar before? This rollbar is on the original dealer invoice listed as an option. Im just curious.

I've seen a couple. They are relatively rare just by my observations.

I had a '77 K5 that had the rear roll bar. That option doesn't seem to have been ordered very often though. I look for one on each trip to a junkyard, but haven't found one yet.

I've got the same thing in my 82. Wasn't sure if it was factory or not until I checked the spec sheet. I haven't seen any others except on this page.

I found one in an '80, put it in my '87 and connected it to my front roll bar by welding on sockets.
This forms a cage. I rolled my '85 into a pancake, and now I really like roll bars.
    ...Even if they look dorky.

Don't have one in my '73, but had a friend that had one in his '75 a while back. I really want one(actually full cage)
Caught some air and went sideways on a sand road at about 70mph a while back. Saw my life in 2 seconds. Good thing I can drive(sometimes).

I've put my K5 on the nose straight vertical and all I could think was I wish I had a roll cage. Scared the crap outta me, not to mention my wife and her friend.
I didnt know K5's came with rollbars, space or no space I'm gonna keep my eyes pealed at the salvage yards for now on.

I have one in my 1972 Blazer that I am going to sell it is made to clear the factory hard top that I am selling too. I want to have a custom 6 point cage made out of 3" tubing since I am no longer using my hard top.

Ive seen them also, and know where ones at for 40$. I had thought of getting it but i want to add a tool box back there. what i would like to have is a factory roll bar just behind the front seat. That i havent found yet. the one i did find (out of a 76 or so) would not fit becuase of the body is diffrent than my 83.

Drive it like you stole it !
