Fair price for exhaust?

Discussion in 'The Garage' started by fireinthehole, Dec 29, 2003.

I priced a new exhaust from one of the local guys, 3" 14ga aluminized pipe, flowtech muffler, and high flow cat, this is going in stock location, single pipe, exit on drivers side on my Sub. Quote was $375 + tax. Think this is a fair price? I'm just looking at options. Not familar with "flowtech" although I know they are a Holly brand.

I think it's high depending on which Flowtech muffler you are getting
    High flow cat $100
    muffler $17.99-$100.00 = Avg $60
plus the cost of the pipe...not much
    $150-$200 labor

    Rough estimates

For comparison sake, I installed a Flowmaster cat-back system on our '94 Sub. It cost $169 and took about 45 minutes to install. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

My truck's at the exhaust place right now. $400 is getting me new manifolds, y pipe, 3" single exhaust, hi flow cat, and I provided the muffler. Oh yeah, he's throwing in a 1.5x.375 rock rod and some machine work too...hehe

  5. Yeah, I figured the guy was on crack. I have put on (3) gibson cat-backs on different vehicles for around $275. I was just trying to give the locals some business.
    Thanks foe the info.

I paid $500 to run custom 2.5" dual flowmasters on my 79.

I have $65 into my wagons exhaust(coated headers, 2.5" duals and turn downs)
and about the same into my burb(stock manifolds and head pipes to dual 3" mandrel pipes and 4" tips)
