OK all you truck guru's. The question is, on the show the Fall Guy ( I know some of you remember) the truck had a storage compartment on the side of the bed. Does anyone know if it was a strange GMC option or an aftermarket thing or maybe only some kind of T.V thing. They only showed it a few times, but if I remember right it was quite large. Anybody know anything about it? Everybody I ask remembers it but know one has ever seen one like it. /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I'll bet it's a TV thing, I'll bet you could get a body shop to make one for you but then you would lose some inside space.
But it was a neat thing to see.

Just saw an episode a few weeks ago with it. The bed sides were cut suicide style to access a full size box in the front of the bed.

I havent seen the Fall Guy in a long time and forgot exactly what the truck looked like. People allways call my truck the fall guy truck, and now I know why. What do you know my truck is a long bed, same brown&tan, and lift looks the same /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. The only difrence is I dont have the hood, light bar, and I have M/T II wheels. thats cool /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Custom work along with TV magic. If you remember they smoggled someone in that compartment and the bed was raised at all. I would love to have a compartment like it on the k-5 and the trailor.

  11. That's exactly what I thought. Them 33's sure are big, huh?

Yeah man. That truck was a monster back when I was a kid. Id like to park the Blazer next to it now for a little side by side comparison. HEHE! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

IIRC, one of the magazines did an article on the truck back when the show was popular and I remember the truck having a 6" lift and 36" Cepeks.

Also, while the truck was a mid 80's lwb, the actual jump truck was an 80 swb with an empty front axle, no t-case and (of course) axle trusses.

BTW - I also love the tool box door on the bed! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Those boxes came with a package called Contractor's Special on the late 70's Fords I think.

My buddy had a 79 f-150 with the side storage box stock .There is a place here in ct (Custom Coach) that builds contractor trucks and I have seen them built into stock chevy beds.Price around $ 250-$300 complete. And speaking of the fall guy how could we forget HEATHER THOMAS !! what a hottie..I used to watch that show just to see her in bikinis .Wonder what ever happened to her she must be about 50 by now??? /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif

Well I know the side bed compartment on the fords goes all the way back to the 60's. they were most commonly found of camper specials. You could get the compartment or saddle tanks.
