Hey all, today was getting some of the finals for my truck togehter, and went to spin my fan so i could get to a wrench I dropped, I cant spin the fan. Well I can but it spins the pulley under the belt. The belt is slipping is the only reason I can turn it. Dont know if it roars at speed or not, but is this a bad clutch? Its off a 454 btw. Thanks.

Well a clutch style fan should rotate semi-freely and if it does not then ya I would say it's jamed up. Never seen that before but I guess it would be possiable???

Fan should rotate on fan clutch slowly, not turn the pulley as well. How cold is outside where you are doing this? It's rare that the fluid would totally freeze!

its probably about 35 ambient, so it shouldnt be frozen, of course the truck is only in the sun about an hr during the day, and it gets to about 20-25 during the night. Doubt its frozen but never know, seems like it used to rotate but i dont remember.
