allright, as some of you saw in the `Off Topic Forum' I'm currently working on building a tech library/crossreference index that'll hopefully help cut down on the sheer number of duplicate and triplicate posts, by providing a fast link to the answers. as an example, 33 inch tires on stock suspension has been asked probably 400 or so times in the last couple weeks, even tho there's a Tire fittament table on the site that gives a pretty good idea of what'll fit what, and what kind of fender hacking needs to be done.

at anyrate, here's the basic index thus far, with a few hot topics that've been requested added to it. I'm trying to work out some details with Steve on what to include, and what not to include in it, as well as what formatt he wants it in.

the goal with this thing is to start with the rudimentry index with links to posts that contain the information. the next phase is to create writeups, and tech files on all the pertinent information, and possibly move it off the forums, and onto its own HTML pages. we'll see what happens. at anyrate, here it is:

    The index at this point:

as you can see, I've already linked to the existing tech library where articles already existed, as well as some posts that seem to come up once every other week or so...

let me know what else I've missed either here, Via PM, or via AIM (Ddragggon)

anyone who wants to help with this is more then welcome to jump on it, as I am but 1 man, and not as omnipotent as I wish I were.

This topic definately needs to be included.

    [/ QUOTE ]added...

I plan to flesh the thing out more as I get into it, with more specific stuff, although I do agree: I've not only been hearing that question for the last 5 years since I got my first C20 pickup, I've even asked it when I was still an Ultra Newbie.

You might want to think about under "movable windows" putting a subcategory for the tailgate glass.

Also- under brakes....Extended lines- and also the Combo Valve- (prop valve) those 2 have been hit hard lately- with the same answers coming each time

How about this..........................If Steve gives it the OK.

Several members (I would volunteer) do the research, put together the links (of perhaps 5-10 topics), then forward the list to you/Steve for approval. That would make it alot easier on you/Steve. It looks like you have alot of time invested in the "list" /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif already. Just a thought.

[/ QUOTE ]that'd be cool, and I'd deffinately welcome the help. I'm doing this basicaly fully volunteer style (steve said he might give me a membership if he really likes it, but thats not why I'm doing it*) and any help I could get would be great. still working out some stuff with Steve on what to and not to include in this.

also, the grand master scheme for this crazy index thing is merely in `Phase 1' with the rudimentary index in a post thing going on. eventually, it'd be nice to see it on its own web page, (phase 2) and then start replacing the crosslinks to posts with good solid writeups (Phase 3).

[/ QUOTE ]I've thought the same thing for a while... its just my brains are kinda slow and dumb when it comes to taking the idea of `gee it'd be nice if we had one of those things' to `yanno, I bet could sit down and probably bang one out'

I think the next step with this thing, is to put it in the garage, (with Steve's blessing) and work on it from there.

*(I'm doing this because I've been on the site for almost 3 years, and feel I ought to contribute something for my time here. since I'm broke/in the hole by giant sums of money, I figgure labor ought to help more then just sitting and watching idly. )

Looks good! How about a picture gallery of trucks with varying amount of lifts and tire sizes? Like a gallery of 4" lifts with 33s, 35s, 36s, 38s, etc, then one with 6" lift and 33s, 35s, 36s, etc. Just do total lifts to account for body lift and suspension lifts in one, and use one side profile shot and one shot from head-on. Make all of the pics the same size, organized very neatly with a very simple caption listing the lift size, tire size, wheel size and backspace, and any other things that might be relevant, such as offset 0 rates. I could probably work on gathering pics if you want, I'd just make apost and ask people to send me the relevant info.
