How many different sockets does it take to doa clutch job on a '97 K2500 w/6.5TD & NV4500 trans?
Let's see, SAE bell-engine bolts, w/12mm studs for fastening a multitude of wireharness's and fuel lines, trans-bell 18mm metric, skid plate torx T25, transfer case 15mm, bell cover 10mm, slave cylinder 3/8", wireharness nut on top of trans, 7/16"....Torsion bar crossmember 18mm/15mm, transcrossmember 3/4"/3/4".....pressure plate bolts 9/16", flywheel bolts 11/16", and the list goes on.
It took me 1.5hours just to put away all my tools when I was done

You guys may think I'm turning traitor, but I think that now's the time for the Big Three to go to ALL metric fasteners on their vehicles if they haven't already. Then you'd only need one set of tools to work on them.

most everybody uses metric fasteners now.

the only ones i know of on current model year vehicles are the 3.8L v6's. almost everything that goes into the block is standard, and everything else is metric.

And it's still a mixture. Now they threw in torx on top of it.
