I'm hearing David Bowie's version of Little Drummer Boy on the radio right now, and it's kind of, um, unpleasant, to say it politely...

I like the season, have my complaints like everyone else, and in general I don't mind Christmas songs at all. I'd prefer if radio didn't start playing them a month and a half before christmas, but whatever.
But songs like this make me think they're really scraping hard at the bottom of the barrel to avoid playing a good one too much...

I don't actually have a favorite christmas song, but there are a few that I enjoy hearing (INfrequently) when they come on.

For unknown reasons, I find myself whistling "Jingle Bells" when I have no song stuck in my head at any point in the year, though.

    edit:
Just remembered a funny observation a friend made recently... There's a line in "Rockin around the Christmas Tree" that could be easily misheard.
20 points goes to whoever can guess the line and what it's misheard as...

    3-way tie for me:

    The Waitresses - "Christmas Wrapping"
    - don't ask me why I like this song so much, I just do...

The Beach Boys - "Little St. Nick"

Trans-Siberian Orchestra - "Carol of the Bells"
    - or "Christmas Eve Sarajevo", whatever it's called...

Bet none of you know theese...

Most all of the "traditonal" Christmas songs make me want to vomit--after hearing them from thanksgiving on,every day,all day--it gets monotonous..

The ones I like are by some of my favorites in "country" music..several artists have great Christmas CD's with only a few of the "usual" songs..like ..

"Good News" By Kathy Mattea..several great tunes, including "Mary Did You Know","There's A New Kid In Town","The Star","Good News"...actually the whole cd is excellent..

"I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day" ,and "Two Step Round The Christmas Tree" by Suzy Bogguss..she sounds great singing the traditional tunes too--I prefer hearing her sing them over most any other singer..she also has a Christmas CD out "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas".. Her live Christmas concerts, and Kathy Mattea's,are the best I've ever seen...been to dozens of their concerts, but have only seen ONE of their christmas shows..both rarely come to New England in December..

"Oh Holy Night",by Martina Mcbride, and also John Berry..best versions out there of that song..killer vocals!

Trisha Yearwood's "The Gift" is a good Christmas CD too...a fine voice..

Garth Brooks " Bella Wood" is an interesting tale of soildiers in WW2 laying down their guns when one starts singing "Silent Night" on Christmas eve!..supposedly its a true story..

A lot of good "new" music out there..Rudolf and Jingle Bells get annoying quickly after 47 years.... --but I still like them,as long as its in moderation... :wink1:

Don't really have any favorites, but for 20 points, my guess would be "later we'll have some pumpkin pie" or "f--kin pie" :D

    Award yourself 20 points.

My perception of the song has been forever tarnished now...
