    Feedin\' the Deer

Anybody else feed the Deer ??? My aunt has been feedin' them for years. She has roughly 20 Deer in her yard at any given time of day. I resently started dumping a corn and oats mix just over my deck. I have a doe every night about 10:00 pm . It's pretty cool. I go out on the deck and have a Deer less the 5 feet away. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

feeding animals seems like a nice thing to do, but what happens when u move or something and the new peeps DONT feed the deer? seems like they could have some problems... not to mention that the deer population will eventually become dependant because there is more access to food than there is in their natural environment....

I don't plan on feeding them year round, just over the winter. I like going out on the deck and having them 5 feet or less away. I'm outside the city limits, we have Deer out here anyways. I seen them in my yard often befor I started feedin' them. Maybe I'm too much of a animal lover, I feel bad when there isn't much for them to eat. Besides, I can feed them for under $20.00 a month. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Deer barely exist here anymore. I hate developments and the yuppies that move here from philly. My county is called Bucks county, can't tell you the last time I saw a buck here that was alive.

I happen to kow that there is about a 500 acre alfalfa field directly across the highway from Z3PR, I kinda doubt they would run into problems in the food category. His deer will never starve /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

We inadvertently feed the deer when they eat half of our damn crops every year /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif Having a field right on the river doesn't help much though. We do put salt blocks out for them though.

That brings up something I was wondering about last night. Was watching an interview by Jay Leno. He was interviewing the pitcher (forgot his name) who won the world series against NY. The guy said he was from Texas and loved to hunt and fish. I've only been to Texas once and it looked pretty darn flat to me. Where do you hunt and fish?
