how would i join two flat pieces of fiberglass

one side cannot have any signs of the join, the crack will be sanded down and filled and painted, but i need to join it on the other side

You have to v-grove the crack (a rather flat v-grove-). The other side is easy, use epoxy resin and fiberglass matt.

You fill the larger v-grove side- I would recommend trying to sand it down enough to put a thin fiberglass membrain in, and then laying ove rwith epoxy, then sand down.
