It is so dry that they have closed access to any camping in areas south of the Trans Canada. To the north it's a fire ban
I don't think I've ever seen the forestry department close a whole area to camping before. They are clsoing access to 750,000 hectares

It's going to be a strange weekend.

How is the dryness/fire situation in your area?

It is dry around here but not as bad as that. I saw the deal on the news about the guy being charged for murder for starting one of the fires from an out door meth lab. Some crazy people in the world.

Actually here in Northern Alberta the ban has been lifted for close to 2 months now. Everything is open, we have had more precip this yr so far then we had for the last 2 yrs put together. As far as I know, this includes everything from Edmonton north to Fort Macmurray. Not sure about BC or western Ab.

    No.I'm in Calgary, Alberta.

This is the first time in history they have closed access to campgrounds and OHV trails ie roads are closed.
The fire risk is so extreme they feel any spark would start a very nasty fire going.

North of the trans canada is a fire ban.
ie Waiparous- the nights get pretty cold and with no campfires allowed it'll be strange.

Calgary? Hey there, I'm in Canmore, just about an hour west of you. Do you ever come out this way?
