Well, the burning is in my area now. Deadwood and Lead SD. have been evacuated becouse of a fire in the Black Hills Nation Forest. More fires by Mt. Rushmore, and in Custer State Park. We had a Grass fire on the plains just east of Rapid City, about 5 miles from my house. It's been so hot and dry around here lately. Got to 111 degrees here today. /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif

A national Type-I Incident Management Team will head up fire fighting efforts
of the Grizzly Gulch blaze beginning Monday morning. The fire is estimated at
4,500 acres with no estimation on containment or control. The South Dakota
Associated Press reports that there are 350 personnel fighting the fire. The
fire turned back toward Deadwood Sunday afternoon after a shift in the
wind. But Wildland Fire Coordinator Joe Lowe says that is actually good news
because much of the area around the town has already burned, leaving the
fire with little fuel to use. Later Sunday, Governor Bill Janklow asked people in
the south part of Lead to evacuate because the Grizzly Gulch Fire jumped
the Kirk Road below Homestake. People who left Deadwood, Boulder Canyon,
Nemo, Vanocker Canyon, Galena and Elk Creek are still not being allowed to
return to their homes. An estimated 10-15,000 people have been evacuated
from Deadwood and Lead, many of them tourists. So far, two homes and six
other structures are confirmed to have burned. The only reported injury is an
arm injury to a firefighter. /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif

I hope all is okay your way!!! I live in Colorado and we have had similar problems. !0.6 acres of mine in the mountains that I was going to retire on in about 20 years is charcoal now.

I hope Sturgis is still going to be held. They will need the moo-lah around there after this is over. If so I am still planning on meeting you there.

    John
