    Not too bad....
Going head first into a mud pit....then BAM!! I thought it was the front end....WRONG!!
10 BOLTS S*CK!! Halfway in a mud pit and my rear drivers tire decides to take another route!! At least it happened there and not doing 90 down the road!!
Now, since I need to get back on de road fast...anyone got some pics of rear diffs with govlocks and what they look like when they are toast? I need something to compare by!!
    More to come!!

    J**P...it's whats for dinner!
Roads? Where we're going, we don't need any roads!
If it wasn't for bad luck I would have no luck at all!!

oh yeah, the GM 10-bolt is plenty strong.......

....if you're running it in a samurai......

my k5 with 350 and 33's never broke the govlok'ed 10 bolt rear, vut now since it's going through all it's changes i saw no need to spend a dime on it, especially when you can get a 14 bolt for cheap ( mine with 4.56 gear and open carrier was 50 bucks...)

you may never break... but if you do, it'll be 5 miles from nowhere with the &%*# axle and wheel shooting out the tube... no thanks, i'd rather slap in some cheap beef... apparently as would about 50% of the other fellas here.....

10 bolts do suck. I blew the gov-lock apart on the street with a hard take off. Unfortunately I didn't know about the 14bolts back then, and my Dad had the 10 bolt rebuilt with an Auburn. It has done ok this time so far, but the 14 bolt is coming. One day.

My Chevy isn't broken, its just out of gas.

I was more like 20 miles from nowhere!! I am considering an upgrade to a 14FF, but I don't have the cash right now. I need cheap, quick fix. If yer 10 bolt ain't broke yet...JUST WAIT. Also considering some front shafts too....cuz I know....it can't be far for them neither!!!

The only thing worse than a 10 bolt is a 10 bolt with a gov-lock...[IMG]
My 12 bolt broke in a parking lot...

If it ain't broke don't fix it doesn't apply to 10 bolts...I personally won't take a chance of having an axle and tire pass me on the road or the trail.

I've never broken a front 10 bolt, but the rears definitely suck the big one. I broke mine on the road with 31" tires.

But I have seen one hold up to 38s for a while.

I agree! I had bad luck with 10 bolts. Blew the stuffing right out the back of the cover. The same happened to my 12 bolt 2 days ago. I had enough Screwing around with 1/2 ton axles. The 14 bolt full floater was delivered to my house today. And it didn't cost me a penny!!

yeah my bus has a 12bolt with a dead posi that has been holding up to 38's for a year now, and we dont take it easy on that truck....i guess there are exceptions to every rule. (he has an eye open for a ff D60 rear tho.)
