Call it a flat spot or hesitation. The engine hesitates just after I press on the accelerator, almost at every speed. Especially when cold, but it does it now after the engine warms up. I have new plugs, a new distributor, new plug wires, timing set perfect per the book, and it was running fine for a week or so, but now it has started this.

Will advancing the timing help this? Could the vacuum advance not be working?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Rebuild your carb. The Accelerator pump is screwed up. Either the rubber came off it (common) or the check ball in the bottom got crud in there and it is not sealing. $15 rebuild kit and a afternoon will fix this.

Thanks Grim. That's a good idea. It is a rebuilt carb from Autozone - the choke element was installed backwards, so I wouldn't doubt there are other problems with it.

    Take care.
