Hey all, I was just inspired by another post, and am now seriously considering this.

Anyone ever do a flip forward nose for better accessability to the engine?

I'd guess to do this, I would want to flip only the fenders and hood forward, somehow leave the grill and radiator support in place, so it doesn't get wrecked by my pushbar, and also be able to open the hood normal style. I guess that would require it to lift up, then flip, or lift as it flips.
So, by mental inventory, I'd need to remount the overflow tank and the washer fluid tank on the frame or grill support. Battery's can stay since they'll be strapped down, just need cables to be lengthened. Shoot, I need to be home in front of it to see how to make the inners clear the evaporator/blower and brake booster...

Any ideas? Thoughts anyone? Anyone have a possible guniea pig nose laying around?

I looked into this many years ago and found that it was more trouble than I wanted to deal with. Look at the rear edge of the front fenders. They curve towards the rear of the truck. [IMG] This means that you have to cut the rear part of the fender in half. The lower part gets permanently fastened to the truck, while the upper half tilts up.

The core support is your next challenge as the fenders bolt to it. So you have to come up with a way to either a) disconnect it from the fenders (and then find some other way to support the fenders) or b) figure out how to tilt it forward and still keep the radiator, a/c, trans cooler, and oil cooler lines connected.

It CAN be done. There are even companies out there that sell one-piece fiberglass front clips with the tilt brackets. It's a lot of work though....
