Are any of you guys running a 50 series suv flowmaster muffler? If so, what does it sound like on the outside and the how is interior resonance?
    Thanks

just for your fyi... Muddin4fun has them on her truck as loves them. From what I've heard they are a bit quieter then the 40's and inside it is realivily quiet (read: you can still talk normal while the truck is going 3grand....).

Yeah!!! LOL... we are talking setting off car alarms, scaring the dog, pissing off the neighbors LOUD! [IMG] I'm a 40 series or Thrush Glass packs (because they don't sound cheap like glasspacks) kinda guy. But some people do like to hear themselves think... But my brain is not very good for thinking so I can use the loud ones [IMG]

A 50 series came with my Force II catback system. Sound is a bit louder than stock but not too much. It has a nice low rumble going through town and getting up to speed but you can't hardly even hear it on the highway. I love mine!

I had a set of 50 series Flowmaster's. 2 1/2" pipe and 3 1/2" boom tubes for tips. It was fairly loud but no real resonance inside the truck at idle or anything. I don't have carpet or anything to help sound deadening so forget conversations...[IMG]
I just had the whole system replaced and routed a little smarter. I used 40 series Flowmasters this time again 2 1/2" pipe. The tailpipe exit location is about 1 foot farther back with no boom tubes and it is quieter at idle...(might just add the big tips again [IMG]) On the freeway at 2500 RPM the Swampers are louder than the exhaust. again I get no resonance in the truck. However its louder than before when I stomp on it! So all in all i like my new system better. At least I don't break exhaust hangers every time I wheel it now...

I'm rhino lining the floors before I put in carpets, and putting a thing coating of it and the inside of the top, and inside the fenders on the inside also... Then I'll put carpet & matting on top of it...

I'll wait until I do that, and then if it's still too load then I'll put in 50 series or something else... lol[IMG] my kids really do run crying when I start it... thats the only reason I'm concerned because I really like the way it sounds...

Hell Cap'n all the kids here would cover there ears and run when I used to start my truck as well...I'm not too surprised.

Kids have good hearing and an aversion to loud sounds. They do get over it after enough time though.

The kids i'm talking about are in the 3 to 5 year old range...

Hahaa! Funny how things change. I knew the young ones didn't like it... LOL As soon as they hit about 5-8 they love it... my ex-gf's younger bro and sis just loved my old Blazer and cars... They could hear my TA about a mile away (Bad Mikey... close the flaps to the open exhaust when going in a residental area [IMG] LOL). I also have to say the sound draws attention to us young twenties people too... although I personally like when the females turn to look more then the males HAHA! [IMG]

And trust me on this, Rene's truck sounds AWESOME. My neighbor came over Saturday night and commented how rad your rig sounded, Rene. Said when you opened it up going down that road behind my house it sounded rad............and it did from inside the truck!

40 series are in my near future (2-3 months..........) hopefully my rusty exhaust falls off by then! LOL

My kids are 4 1/2 and almost 6, but they are both autistic... Cute little rats, but then again thats their saving grace... lol[IMG]

If they are inside they are fine, but I've got boom toobs too, and it's a little load at times... [IMG]

I'm running true duals with 50-series (2). I wouldn't change a thing! If I romp on it, I can set car alarms off, however I can still talk to people while going down the highway and only have a nice purr to listen too. If you are going with a single muffler, go with 60 or 70-series if you want the same loudness that I have.
