Might be your ISP. Try using a 10 lb mallot on your keyboard to alleviate the pain. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Really. The computer does have a 56K modem on it, but I never hit anything higher than 33.6 or whatever, and that's early in the morning before I go to work. At night like right now, it's always 28.8. Must be the quality service of AOL or something. I can't wait to go DSL.

Maybe you should get a hold of Mabel down there at Kans-A$$ Bell and tell her to start pluging in the switch board faster.

Probably live in a older community that has Paragon telephone lines.. We had that at or shop.. We couldn't get over 33.6.. We couldn't even get regular DSL there.. We had to get IDSL...

Nothing slow here. But I'm sure that being connected to a network with a T3 backbone has nothing to do with it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Slow for me too, on t1 at work and cable at home. I'm not sure what you speak of with this "dial-up" thing. Is that a backup or something?

Hey Wes, keep two windows open on ebay, go through as if you're going to bid on the item in one window (log in and all) but don't hit "Place Bid", and in the other window, keep hitting f5 or refresh to keep an eye on the auction. at the last minute, jump to the other window and hit "place bid with your bid amount.

I alternate between my cable hookup at home and the T3 at work and I noticed a slowdown on both connections. Just figured net traffic was high for the holidays.

If you work thru a Remote Terminal (Pair Gain), then 28.8 is the best you will do because you use only one half of a 64K Channel...AD conversions will slow you down...on a straight copper line, the distance (loss) is the killer (also depends on the number of 88mh loads)...DSL will only work on unloaded copper up to 17K ft (seen it fail at 17,040 and work at 18,100)...Bridge Tap (branches)will slow down any connection depending on their length and location...one option for a little more speed is ISDN (128K) runs about $59 per month (Texas), and about $20 for Voodoo ISP...DSL will become more readily available if the PUC (Fed and Local) ever quits Fawkin' the PhoneCo....(I can Really Rant on that).... /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
