Acually there have been 7 recalls on the first 100 or so GTs produced. The owners were warned by Ford Not to drive them and have them transported to be repaired. Guess Ford got a little sloppy in their rush to get them to market. Engine oil/coolant Leaks, faulty suspention, Bad rear main seals, emission issues, Defective seat belts :yikes: The problems have been fixed in the later production models. But if I had bought one of the early production cars and couldn't drive it I would be a little pissed.

I'm a Corvette guy through and through. Used to have a '74. K5's and Corvettes- can't beat them. Ford GT's and Vipers will come and go but the Corvette is and will always be the only TRUE American sports car. New Vettes have a 427 SBC w/ 500 hp. Car (i think) weighs in at under 3000 lbs. That thing is gonna be smokin fast. :saweet:

I'd own that GT in half a heartbeat and I too am a die hard Chevy guy. Got to get all up close and personal with a real GT-40 last Saturday. Still in my book one of the coolest race cars ever made. Valued at a cool million. :yikes:

It wasn't the rear main seal's fault, it was piss poor machining of the journal the seal rides on. ford's fix: throw a speedy-sleeve on it and call 'er done. You just paid 240K for that pile and got a repair part used to salvage components that are out of spec from many years of use, but wait, your car is BRAND NEW!! Man, sucks being you right about now.

ford, where quality is job NONE!!

I think if I had stoopid money to throw at a vehicle, I'd score a new Z06 and have the Lingenfelter crew or Reeves Callaway work some of their magic on it and have a faster, more reliable vehicle than the ford. Not as many looks as the ford?? Oh well, I don't have an ego to support, I'm just in it for the power to use on a lonley stretch of mountain road.

I don't know about all the problems etc.. but it sure looks nice sitting there. You gotta love a car that looks fast sitting still.
