I have a friend who is selling his f150 and looking at buying an f250 diesel (he does a lot of freeway miles, but not much towing).
He will spend about $35000 on this truck, but that should include a lift and tires.
Why should he buy a Chevy instead? and which one? We both like the look of the new HD's, help me convince him to go Chevy.
Ohh yeah, and where should he look?

Actually, there is one thing that might convince him, the Duramax is less noisy than a Powerstroke.

I have to agree. I'm not bashing the Duramax, they're an awesome motor. But I like noisy diesels. I think the 94-97 Powerstroke is one of the best sounding diesel engines out there. It saddens me that the diesel technology is making them quieter.

    Ford.

Since you did specify lift/tires, the Ford lift will be the cheapest, hence letting you use more of the $35k on the truck alone. Lots of Ford diesels out there. Probably the cheapest route.

Strongly suggest a 5 or 6-spd for mileage considerations. 3.55's might be a bit tall with big tires, but mucho economy. Going with a 98-older will let you use easier to find (possibly used) wheels since they still use a "normal" 8-on-6.5" pattern.

Sorry guys, I like silence, and I love diesels, and my only problem with them is the noise.
I have the same problem with loud muflers.
Why bother your ears if all you need is the performance.
