Lastest project at my house is doing dual SM465's. A 2wd coupled to a 4wd with a np205 t-case. The shaft between the two consists of a front shaft H-yoke and a dana 20 t-case yoke. I have set it up on the work bench and now the 2wd tranny is in place so far. Hopefully by the end of this weekend it will be all done minus the driveshafts. I will take some pics of it when its done. This gives me a 352:1 crawl ratio. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I think the weak point will be the dana 20 yoke along with the SM465 input shaft it rides on! Guess we will see what breaks first /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

How do you have the clutch setup? 1 pedal engages both clutches? Or 2 pedals? Whoa, that would be wierd, haha.

why would you need more than 1 clutch? There is no mysterious motor between the transmissions.

So you think it's going to work, eh?

I'm willing to bet something between the two transmissions gets smoked. You never drive the Suburban hard enough to spin a tire so I don't figure it'll be anything beyond the NP205. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So, if you put the first transmission in reverse and the second transmission reverse... hehe.

I have heard of this done a few times but nobody seems too interested in sharing the knowledge. Let us know how it goes. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeah fscking right. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif I'm not even going to *try* to talk to him about it anymore. I'm just going to chock it up to experience of the trials of the trail. And if he breaks down on the trail I'm just going to leave him there like he tried to get Kyle to do to me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif With any luck, I'll never have to wheel with him again. /forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif

The only email I ever got from him was December 7th and it read:
    [ QUOTE ]
i think i might still have a set but i have to look for some down state. i won't be down their till christmas eve so i can let yah know then.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I sent him email on January 1st thinking maybe he'd reply that said:
    [ QUOTE ]
Have you had a chance to look for tires?

I hope you had enjoyable holidays.

and my last email on January 15th was this:

    Any news as of yet?

I found out that 4 Wheel Parts still sells my tires.

Right now I'm trying to buy Kyle's MTRs off him. If they're in as good of shape as I think they are then it's a pretty good deal. I'm going to have to raid the winch fund in order to do it but at least I'll have tires come spring.

Yeah, I wish I had his "money problems". /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif Like everything else, I'm sure he creates most of his own problems.

Try super low by putting both trannys in reverse. What is the ratio for reverse anyway? Is it lower than 1st gear?

Its low but not lower than creeper gear I don't think, hmm only site I found stating a ratio says its the same as Creeper gear.

I think reverse on a SM465 is the same as on a SM420. 7.04:1, which is the same as the forward first gear on the SM420.

But anyway, I think it'd be hard on the transmission to run a lot of power through it in reverse but I could be wrong. I haven't seen a SM465 torn apart in a LONG time.

Yeah I guess that's true, you really do have 8 reverse gears. That'd be hilarious to see someone shifting in reverse. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif
