So I went out to get the mail, and as I'm walking back up the driveway I see this black lab wandering down the road. The road I'm on is a 55mph road, so people are generally doing 60-70mph , anyhow, you could tell she's obviously lost, nose to ground, looking around every 20 seconds, so I call her over, and after some hesitation, she followed me into the backyard (a good 200 yards from that damn road),at this point I could see she was nursing or pregnant, she wouldn't come near me though, until I pulled out a plate of some left over turkey scraps, then she came right up, layed on the deck in the sun, and chowed down. I pet her a bit, she seems ok with me now, so I go digging around the collar and there's a number. So I call it, and these people were estatic.
Apperantly she is pregnant, and she got out last night. They have been going door to door to see if anyone's seen her, she was about 8 miles from home!
I almost didn't call her over, I'm glad I did.

dogs are funny. some of them can find their way back in a snowstorm, others get lost as soon as they're out of sight! good thing you found her.

That's great. One of ours got run over a couple of years ago and a guy picked her up and dropped her at a local vet school. It was nice to have her back in one piece.

I had a Terrier mix that rode on my Harley's gas tank. He disappeared one night from a chick's house, and never saw him again.

    You're the Lab's family's hero!!! :D

That's awesome!! Both of mine got out last year and a guy in the neighborhood caught them and brought them back to my house! A lot of people won't do stuff like that. :waytogo:

WOW, way cool. You'll get a return reward someday. Although just knowing the dog was home to birth the pups is rewarding, to you, and the family.
    Way to go man.   :D :D :D
