    Hey folks,

I've found a parts truck, and its a little bit too far for me to just run out and check whats under it. Here is the ad:

    85 Chevy Full Size Blazer 4X4 - 305 V8
    TH400 Trans., Removable fiberglass top,
Needs U-joints & yoke, not title...

I'm just currious what T-case & axles this
truck would most likely have under it.
    I'm already confused about the 305 & 400...
I had hoped it was using 1 ton running gear,
but no way with a puny 305 pullin it.

What do you guys think? I'm going to call later,
but I've found most people in NC are idiots, and
have no idea what they are talking about!

    Thanks,

    Corey

With the TH400, all bets are off, could be anything under there. It came with a 700R4 and an NP208, 10 bolts front and rear.

Call the guy up and ask him if its got 6 or 8 lug rims... that would be a good way to tell if someone futzed with them. [IMG] Other than that, I think you would have to make a trip out to see it. Good luck.

It should be a 305, 700R-4, 208, and 10 bolts. But if it has the 400 in it who knows. Like said before all bets are off. It could just have a 400/208 because someone ditched the 700r-4 because of its problem, or just about anything.

My Chevy isn't broken, its just out of gas.

Ye3ah, I heard with the eralier 700R4's they were so bad, many people replaced the mwith TH400's. The dealers may have even been selling kits to do this...would have thought they would have fixed it by 85 though

Ya, I wish. I happen to have an 85 with a 700R-4. It lasted 104K from the factory, then the second one lasted 20K. I did wreck the truck on the second tranny though. The 3rd is up to about 20K, and still holding on. Hopefully alot longer. I have a big tranny cooler on this one, with all the updates, and a shift kit. This one better last. When this one goes I think a Raptor is in order, or a 4L80E with the 6 speed Jet kit in it.
