I need to clear something up. From what I can find, the frames on the 73-91 1/2 ton Subs are the same as the 3/4 ton. The difference between them are in the brakes and axles. Is this true? Or is their some tie in with the 1 ton chassis?

Yup, that should be the case. The 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks share the same frame, the 1 ton is the only one that's deiiferent.

I've got a factory options sheet for my 91, and it does list some differences in the 1/2 - 3/4 frames. Not big things, but thickness .177 vs .192 section radius 3.57 vs 3.88 RMB (??) of frame/Lb-in 139.230 vs 151.320
Dimensions seem the same however, but guess those little things help give the 3/4 ton the higher weight ratings.
