    - The letters "I", "O", and "Q" never appear in a VIN.
    - The VIN must be exactly 17 characters in length.
    - The CARFAX database contains information for cars manufactured from 1981 through the present.

Thanks man, I was curious about the history of my truck and family car. All I found was that the millage might not be correct because there is over 99,999 miles. Hell, I already knew that much. Thanks again.

Thanks for use of the account!

For all playing with it, don't take this as gospel. I guess if I wanted to try, I could see about taking their $5000 guarantee. : )

It's kind of neat to look at past history, but I've got a car in my driveway that was totalled, bought back from the insurance company, and sold to me (that sale I haven't reported) over a month ago (almost 2 now) and shows a clean title.

I've heard of this before with Carfax, a fair amount of erroneous reporting.

Thanks for the use of your account. I buy all my cars and trucks new but it was amazing to see all the info that has been collected on all my stuff. I got into a fender bender with my Jimmy when it was 3 weeks old--not my fault--not much damage, but that showed up on the report.

I think it is either 80 or 81 . whenever they change from custom /specific 13 character vins to 17 characters .the lmc catalog has a bit of info on the vins and other stuff.
