I want to switch the axles from my K30 to my Blazer. If someone here (who knows what they are doing and who will do it well) will do the work for me, I will let them keep the rest of the K30 truck and the axles from my Blazer for free. The Blazer has D44/12Bolt combo now w/ 3.73 gears. I live in Las Vegas and do not have time to spend moving the vehicles any place far from town. If anyone is interested in talking about this, e-mail me at "douggusteven@aol.com"

What size motor, gas or diesel?
    What transmission, standard or automatic?

The truck is an '88 and I believe that the technically correct designation is V30. However, it is still straight axle. It is a standard cab with a long bed. It has a single rear axle. It has a 454 gas motor. It has an automatic trans. I would assume the trans is the TH400 with a 205 on the back. My Blazer has a 465/205 combo in it so I do not need the trans or case. As for condition, I would say that is subjective. It is a good work truck. I bought it for the axles only but since I bought it, I have driven it and hauled some stuff in it and took it on a short road trip (about 75 miles) without any problems. If anyone else has any questions, let me know.

DAMMIT! Sounds like the perfect truck!!! If its the standard cab with a long bed, then that should be an 87. The 88 and 89's were either dually or crew cabs. Unless someone made it that way. Dont know. BTW, this 454 is fuel injected, right? Do you know what gear ratio in the front and rear?

I ask about the gear ratio because if they are 4.10, it would be easier to swap in a 3/4 ton rear to your blazer. The 1 ton rear requires relocating the spring perches and shock mounts. I can supply a 3/4 ton rear to make it work. The front would be a direct bolt in.

Lets see............trying to decide how and when I could get down to you to help out with this. How soon are you wanting to do this? I will be able to use a two week vacation this coming summer. Dont know if I would want to just fly down and have my transport driver pick it up or just drive down with a trailer. Let me know how soon you want to do the swap.

Yeah but Cali is there close by Las Vegas....She could want to live in Cali down south along the coast! That way got the beach going on and it's a short drive to hit Las Vegas! But living in Cali bites...gas over $2 bucks now down south a gallon and no electricity! But hey we still got the sun! [IMG]

You could always leave that truck alone and let me deliver and install some axles I have here. This would save the dismantling time and labor. I could service my axles in trade for that truck. I do have a D60 and 14FF with 4.10 gears. I would even supply the u-bolts and plates too. If you dont have any other 8 lug wheels laying around, I can bring some plain steel "farm" truck tires so you can get the blazer moved around. What do you think of this?

K30 - I believe you are correct regarding moving the spring perches on the rear diff. However, the truck is an '88. I checked the VIN and the title. That is why I said technically, it is a V30, however, it is identical in specification to the '87 K30 in terms of running gear. It is fuel injected. According to my source book, Chevy made an independent front axle K30 in 88 and also a straight axle V30 in 88. For whatever that is worth.

The offer to simply swap a set of axles for the truck is workable too. I just want a D60/14bolt under my Blazer and I do not want to pay some shop a ton of money to do the work. I do not know how to weld nor do I know how to figure out the pinion angle issue. That is why I need someone to do the work and as long as I end up with the right axles under my Blazer, the rest of the stuff can go. On the wheels, the only 8 lug wheels I have are currently on the K30 and they are what you offered, just stamped steel wheels with tires. So that is fine as well. Let me know what you think.

If you do go Wes, let me know. I -might- be able to go down there too and help (or hinder). Keep me posted of your plans.

Can you tell me some more info about the truck?
Is it Silverado, Scottsdale, Custome Deluxe?
    What color interior and exterior?
    How good does it run?
Would I be able to drive it home? (1200 miles)
    How about pictures of it?
