Last night a friend and I where doing some work to my truck and we had about 10 min to spare and so we where going to rewind my winch. When we where pulling the line out we found that it was kind of hard to pull the line out. We had turned the lever to Free spool but when I hit the button to pull in, it would still pull in? is that right? But when I put it to engage I could not pull the line out. Is this right? I would tried to power it out with it on free spool but I have to replace those solenoids.

    Any ideas? /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif my /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

i know this is a smaller thing, but i have a honda atv with a warn winch, a few times i ran into this turns out i wasnt turning the thing to free spool far anough, sometimes it will make a click sound when it goes to free spool other times it wont, if you cant figure it out, id call warn, and demand an answer, good luck.

Got water in it, it rusted and it's not disengaging.
Pull the freespool lever out. Take the 6-8 allen head bolts off that hold that end of the winch on. Curse a whole lot while trying to get the inner drum out of the cap.
Wire brush inner drum to make it smooth again. 300grit Emory cloth the clean inside of cap.
    Grease and assemble.
