    freecreditreport.com, unknown account reported

I went to freecreditreport.com and got my free credit report. There is an account "HSBC/BSBUY" and I don't know who it is. Anyone know? How do I find out?

Why use that place when www.annualcreditreport.com is free and they wont ask for your credit card? New law went into effect this year that says every US Citizen can get their report from each major agency once per year for free. It started this December on the west coast and then the mid west gets it in 3 or 4 months, then the SE Atlantic, then the NE Atlantic.

That's what I would guess also, but I never bought anything from them for $10,365. The limit on the account was only $3000. It is current and paid ($0 balance) so I may not have to worry too much.

applying for a loan gets your credit score. The bank told me mine last night. I'm just a little below my parents credit score and I'm only 19 :D

These folks are dishonest. They were free for a month then $ 9.95 thereafter. I cancelled, but not in writing. They kept charging my debit card. I ended up spending twenty-five minutes on the phone arguing with some teenage punk. He wouldn't let me talk to a supervisor. When I threatened to sue, he agreed to stop hitting my card.

Moral: when dealing with your credit, always do so in writing, certified mail return receipt.
