I have read that early Chevy front 44s used smaller dia axleshafts and U joints. Does anyone know what year they switched over?

You ought to fill in your profile, you'll get more replys.I know 72s used 5-297 X.Spicer is replacing that with 5-760 X.It's supposed to be stronger.44s and 10Bs use the same joint. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

67 to 72 used the 260-X u joint, 73-87(91) used the 297-X, which is superceded by the stronger 5-760X.
