Discussion in '1973-1991 K5 Blazer | Truck | Suburban' started by **DONOTDELETE**, Apr 27, 2000.

does anyone know of a prerunner style front bumper for K5s that replaces the factory bumper (not add on) and will accept a 8000 lb winch....
    thanks in advance

I sold my 74 to my best friend so he could join the K5 family...

Here is a way to install your winch without having the ugly stuff spoiling the front of your truck. The winch in there is a Warn 9000i behind the stock bumper. I hope this might help.

Thanks Eagle - Yes the install is the result of not wanting to have the "ball of wires" stuck on my K5's nose. I removed the bumper and welded a 10mm steel plate between the chassis legs under the radiator to serve as a platform. The winch is mounted upside down to this plate. I then cut a "door" into the stock bumper and placed the rollers on the outside. The reg. plate serves as the door to hide everything behind. It is very simple to do and apart from cleaning the front up nicely it also protects your winch from getting stolen. Folded down the reg. plate serves as a step to get up to the engine bay in a more dignified way. (As we get older we need all the help we can get....lol)
