Well I went in to get new rubber all the way around and I got the news, front end needs work. Well I can't say that it surprized me considering I have been driving this 84 K5 for twelve years as a daily driver plus all the hunting trips in-between so I guess I had better suck it up and pay. There was a time I could do this myself but do to back surgery I will have it done. "JUST CAN'T GET RID OF THIS MONEY PIT, LOVE IT" (crate motor, rebuilt 700r, 3 rebuilt carbs, bent valves, rebuilt re-end ect. ect. ect. The wife thinks I am nuts.
    Oh well

    84 K5, Crate 350, 700r tranny.

Do a cross over conversion while you are at it!!! The tie rods and ends would be much tuffer that way...

Can't believe that you made it 12 years!!!! Good luck on the next 12!!!

Well - you need to change the steering arm (at the axle), the pitman arm (at the steering box), the sector shaft in the steering box (not as bad as it sounds), change the draglink to the "crossover" type which connects from the steering box on the driver's side to the pass. side. If you want to, you can also replace the tie rod and ends.

Check out <a target="_blank" href=http://www.offroaddesign.com/Dana44crossover.htm>ORD's web page</a> for further details and pricing. [IMG][IMG]

Wow, still sucking it up. The local tire dealer quoted $628.00 so I took it to a friend of the family who has been in the front end bussiness since 1975 he owns his own shop. Double wow he quoted $800.00 but he is doing twice the work than the local tire guy. Complete rebuild, I guess some of the toys will have to wait. Oh well
