Could you swap the center section of the D60 to the passenger side by taking out the axle tubes and switching sides along with the axle shafts? Would this work or is there something I am overlooking? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

your missing that the spring perch is cast into the side of the carrier. you are close to wagoneer machine shop, they do a spring clamp for this i think it starts around $250. have seen some of their work, very top notch.call them and they can tell you the rest, located in claremore.

You can save a bunch of work by swapping to a NP241C from an IFS truck (driver-side drop). Easy t-case to find.

Make sure you get the Ford Dana 60 from a 78-79 truck - I believe it will bolt right onto the Chevy springs. (Can anyone confirm this?)

A newer (86-up) Ford Dana 60 has the pumpkin closer to the wheel, so you'd have to cut it up, or outboard your springs. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I believe the 78-79 style have a 32" center to center spring pad while the later ones have a 36". With the 36", if you run a tire larger than 38", you can run into problems with your tires rubbing on the spring packs at full lock /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif. Heres my 79:

    Hey willyswanter

Do you have a pic of where the spring perch mounts on the driver side pumpkin?

    Thanks

If you had the time I would like to see a close-up pic of where the spring perch is on the housing.
