    Hey,
Are the open carriers for the front and rear 10 bolt 28 splines the same ? differences because of no c-clips in front ?
What other (than full sizes) vehicles can i get a rear 28 spline open carrier ? how about vans ? i know the axle is 5 lug but shouldn't the carrier be the same assuming the splines are ? i like to crawl the junkyards !
    thanks--Blake

I can't help you as far as where you can get matches, but the front and rear 10-bolt carriers are the same.

    Will a 2wd truck work ?
What other vehicles had a 8.5 inch 10 bolt ?

Most of the "larger" 80's GM cars will have (or can have, not all did) 8.5's, like the Caprices, but thats about it.

Most of the "midsizes" like the Monte SS, Grand Prix, Regal and Cutlass all had 7.5's or 7.625's, while the '84-87 Grand National, '85-87 442, and '84 Hurst Olds got 8.5's. Don't bother looking for those diffs though, $500 for even an open (non LS) diff.

If looking at cars, heres the way to tell the difference: http://www.dorianyeager.com/diffid.html

2WD trucks will work, as long as you are looking only for the carrier. Most non-performance cars will not have any ratio higher than 3.08 with 8.5's, maybe 3.23 if you are lucky.

The front spider gears still have the spots for the C-clips. The axleshafts just don't have them. The spider gears and carrier is the same front and rear.
