fuel gauge

    My fuel gauge is having problems. First of all, when i fill the tank up all the way, the gauge only goes 3/4 of the way. After alittle bit of driving, the gauge goes up to full. Slowly as the gas is used up, the gauge floats. Like i will look at it and there will be 3/4 a tank. Then next when i look at it, there will only be 1/4. Pleease help

    There is a little thing on the sending unit that kindof buffers it so that it doesn't register as the gas slops around. A new sending unit is around 100 bucks. You might check all the wiring before you replace it. Mine did that and I found the insulation burnt off from the header. I rewired it and it's fine now.
