What I do is go to Kragen and I look into their radiator hoses. They have a selection of prebent hoses and I just try and find somehing that will do the trick, most of the times I have to cut a piece of.
I did that for my jeep, blazer and even my bike filler hose.

    No, don't use radiator hose.

I bought new filler necks from LMC and they fit perfectly, no problems, all prebent.

I used fuel hose for that, from the local Autozone. LMC sells it too, but why pay the premium?

My truck (longbed pickup) is a 73, but I have a bed from an 87 on it.
I got the filler neck for an 81-87.

hmm see im wondering if i should have ordered it for a 74 like i did

    heres my specs:

tank being swappe don truck: 74 pass side

truck year: 81 without pass tank originally, no door or even hole for a filler neck in the bedside

are filler tube diametersd same 73-81 as in 82-86 ?

somewhere around 1 1/4" is what i measure on the 74 tank

    what you think ?

I would think you need the same filler neck as I got, the 81-87.

LMC has some decent pics of the configuration of the filler necks. If you don't have a catlog,m go to lmctruck.com and they'll send you one free. They show the difference between the earlier and later filler necks and you can decide.

Is there any reason you don't buy parts from the dealer ? More people waste time trying to half ass their stuff together with universal parts store garbage. Go to Chevrolet one time and get the correct hoses. Problem solved. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

no, actually problem not solved, GM discontinued basically everything and a long time ago, the dealer was the first place i went to, thhey couldnt even find out part numbers on most of the stuff cuz it has been long discontinued. GM rarely has any parts anymore, seems like these days they simply send them back to GM Corp when they get only a few years old now. you may be able to get soem parts there for your 88 there, but not you cant for anyhing this old i am working on., going to dealer for parts for old vehicles like this oesnt work these days

why did you assume i havent gone there ?
i might as well quit going there, the only thing GM has ever had that ive gone there for in the past was a turn sig switch asembly- even though was later style one and required an adaptor) and a PCV valve cover grommet, and thats it... GM dealer parts counter sucks for parts availability.

    thanks
