Funny picture of my Samurai passing Orange Crush\'s K5 at Uhwarrie.

It was taken at a VERY slippery and fairly deep hole on Rocky Mount. Eric (Orange Crush) was parked there to help anyone who didn't make it through. The size difference is what makes it so hilarious.

Sorry for the link, but MSN won't let me direct link to his picture. Stu's picture

Thanks to stu454 for letting me bogart his picture.

Eric didnt set his truck up to just run the trails that a sammi on 31's can run. He was just going along with the group on an easier trail. Look at the pictures taken at uwharrie last time on kodiak rock and see what he really does with his truck.

This picture was in no way intended to rag on Eric's truck. It is VERY capable and has been built correctly. He has an 8" lift and a 2 or 3 inch body lift. He is taking the suspension lift on in favor of something less. Eric said his truck was TOO TALL and I can see why. He has invested a bunch of money in it and it shows in how well it performs.

The trails at Uhwarrie are not all that extreme and his truck is overkill for it, but it does offer some technical obstacles when wet, like it was this past weekend.

I couldn't take all of the lines he did such as Kodiak Rock, but I didn't have to bypass it either. I just took an easier line.

BTW, I'm not trying to brag, but to me it was impressive for me to take the lines I did on 29" TSL/SX's that others in the group on 40+" tires did. It all came down to my truck being lighter and having a welded rearend. I had trouble in some spots, while others just romped on the loud pedal and drove right over.

It was a very fun weekend until I hit a piece of rebar sticking out of the concrete at a gas station and flattened one of my tires. They weren't even a week old. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

We were in the midst of very skilled drivers, one of which was stu454 in his bone stock 98 Tahoe, and then Orange Crush and dawson444. Danny (SF87K5), showed his skills not only as a driver, but as a spotter. I would be honored to go anywhere with these guys.

MAJOR props goes to stu454, who threw caution to the wind and inflicted some body damage to his immaculately clean Tahoe. It takes some guts to take a truck as nice as his on the trail, and then not care if you dent it.

Here is stu454's link to his pictures. Go to his Off Roading album and you will find it there.

    stu454's pictures

You'll find some more in the East Coast forum. Look at the top for Uhwarrie pics.

Thanks! You guys (and gals) were a great group of folks to let some guy you didn't know from Adam go out with you in a stock Tahoe. Danny is the spotter supreme. He kept me from getting my arse scraped worse than I did. I'd be happy to go anywhere with you all. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Have to look at it when I get home but I have a pretty good idea of what I'm going to see.

Orange Crush is HUGE. I have stood next to it. Hood is right at eye level. It does remarkably well on the rocks for being so tall. He ran some stuff I wouldn't even think of trying in my truck.
