    Hello Everyone
I was just watching channel 45 and saw this great big hill they called the Lion's tail or Lion's Hill.
There was a close call tragedy of a K/5 Blazer losing it's brakes going very fast down the hill, They didn't give a good description of the vehicle, the year or was it a silverado.
But they showed it crashing at the bottom and flipping over.
The two people, a man and a women surviving the crash.
Can anybody give me a detailed idea of what hill this was?
What year the blazer was? & has there been other fatalities on this 90* angle look down and don't turn back, place.
I might have put errors, but would like an update on it.
    Michael

I think the name is Lions Back. Iused to know where it was but cant rememeber for the life of me now. It was in Utah or Nevada I believe.

IIRC they were coming back down after making it up and lost the brakes or something.

I saw it too. I looked like a mid-80's to me. The guy had already gone up and back down, then his wife(who had no wheelin' experience btw) wanted to drive. And on the way back down something happened to the brakes(I figured that they were overheated from the previous trip up) and the sh!t hit the fan.

Lgk5, yeah thats the place alright, for it being a mid 80s vehicle, I'm not sure, when I saw the front of the brown blazer it looked more like between 1976 thru 1980 because of the single headlight display and the marker lights are up and down instead of across like the 81 thru 91 versions.
Have there been other fatalities like this one on this trail?

All those going to Blazer Bash in Moab will get to check out Lion's Back. It's literally a 2 minute drive from downtown. Off towards the town side of that fin, back near where it's the highest, is a cross with pictures of a couple of kids that drove up to the top and fell off the side one night... /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

Wayne and I saw the same thing. Only I think we saw it on the Travel Channel or something like that.

Is there much room to turn around at the top Harry? I'd love to try the Lion's back!

I beleive it was a mid 70's cuz, if I remember right, it had a fiberglass top. The story I heard about the incident was that they did 3 consecutive trips up and back and what you see is the third trip down.

There is enough room to CAREFULLY turn around up top. Lots of vehicles go up and down Lions Back. You have to cross private property to get to it now, and they charge something like $5 per vehicle to go up.
