This kind of seems petty, but I have not been able to get my gas gauge to work since I put my truck back together. 89 350 TBI/700r4. Before I tore the truck down it worked. The pump works fine. I thought the black ground coming from the tank sending unit was the ground for the gauge. I tried to ground it with a couple of alligator clips to another part of the vehicle, but nothing changed? Any thoughts. Almost everything was taken out of the truck down to the frame so alot has changed. The one thing I didn't do was disasemble the dash, only took the face plate off and the top pad. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If you put a new motor in it, sometimes a wire gets pinched that runs from the sending unit.
That's never happened to me though /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

I would use a meter and check if you are getting power to the guage from the sending unit.
