I bought another vehicle last night. Gonna sell the Burb and use the new one as my daily driver tow vehicle. Its a 1997 2500HD 2wd Chevy. Has a Vortec 350 and just rebuilt(not more than 5 miles on it) 4l80e. 3.73 rear gears, anyone have an idea of what I can expect on gas mileage with a good foot? I'm hoping for like 15 but not really expecting heavily. It would be nice to have my first vehicle since I got my license that gets more than 10 mpg.

How do you get that? I have a 96 Yukon 4dr that gets 13.5-14.5 in the city and at very very best 17 on the highway. /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

I get about the same with the 98 extended cab Z71, average about 16mpg, that's alot of country driving, and I have a pretty heavy foot.

Compared to all my vehicles if I got 14-15 I'd be very happy. I get 10mpg no matter what in the Burb, my 95 was the same, and my K5 well forget that, if I broke 7mpg I was trying to figure out how that happened.

THe guy that had my vortec before me had it in a 99 4x4 1/2ton burb. he claimed no matter how hard he put his foot into it, it got 17 in the city. This summer i plan on rebuilding it for my 85 k5. I am hoping to put a roller cam in it along with roller rockers. It already came with hyd. roller lifters. I should get sweet milage w/ that set up.

Already has a roller cam if it has roller lifters, FYI.

Roller rockers might give you some, it does all add up, but we aren't talking 5MPG additional.

Vortec heads don't like much mor cam than stock, so be careful.

Also, unless you are running the Vortec injection system, you probably won't net as good mileage as he did, especially on the freeway.
