First tank on my stock 91 3/4 ton with 350TBI - 90% around town - 10.1 mpg. Not bad but a 6" lift and 35" tires is going on soon.............heck, if I was in it for the mileage I wouldn't be running heavy Chevy iron! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

    Ouch...I'm getting about that with 33's and a 4" lift...well, on a good tank.

Watch that number plummet with the lift and bigger tires. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Make sure you're running up to temp (~195-200), and you might want to think about replacing the oxygen sensor and ignition stuff. You should be able to do a little better than 10mpg on a stock 350 computer controlled engine...and stock truck.
Oh well, like you said...can't expect ford festiva gas mileage from a vehicle 5 times bigger in every feasible way. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I know...I was responding his original post, saying that 10mpg will drop once bigger tires and a lift are installed. I hadn't even read your post at the time I replied.

The TH400 don't help your mileage, but at least you wont break down!
I got about 13 or so with 31's and 4.10 gears (I have OD)
Waiting to see what the 36's will do to me...

About 10 is all I get with mine on the return trip from PA. My Lesabre was getting about 30mpg on the way there. On the way back we'd put 10 gallons in the Buick and 30 gallons in the sub /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. There's another good reason to install the Cummins.

10 mpg in mine everywhere, including towing. It has a built TBI 350 in it with about 325 hp. 700r4, 208, 4" lift, 38.5" SXs, and 4.56 gears.

Well I started out at 13mpg with stock wheels on my 3/4 ton with 4:10s. The tbi really is a good economy injection system. I lifted 6 inchs and went 35s and I really havn't noticed much of a difference. The only difference is when I do excessive hill climbing. Through on over drive and wow! My half ton with the same engine and a 700r4 with 3:73s gets 16mpg. Course its a 95. If you want some incuragement though check out the mpg tests that 4wheel and off road showed for 4x4 of the year. Everything was getting 10 average. Pretty incuraging when your twice the size of a cherikee or 4runner yet getting just about the same mileage. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

check out the mpg tests that 4wheel and off road showed for 4x4 of the year. Everything was getting 10 average.

[/ QUOTE ] Keep in mind that those averages include days on end of off-road flogging, 90+ mph blasts down the highway, and hours of idling while waiting to take their turn at the various obstacles. Lots of those rigs will get upper-teens to low-twenties on a long highway cruise. That's something that non-diesel Suburban owners can only dream about. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif
