I will soon be lifting my blazer 4 in and getting 35in tires. With a crate 350 and a holley 4 barrel carb. I was wondering what the gas mileage will be around with this set up
    thanks

Well hard to say because your going to have a gearing problem (you didn't mention correcting) and a Holly...My guess is 5mpg. With correct gears and a Quadrajet 10mpg.

Grimmys right on the gears. Im not a big varb man, so I cant tell you which carb is better. But if you put those bigger tires on there and keep the same wheenie gears. You motor is going to have to work harder to get you moving. Just like riding a 10 speed up hill with it in 10th gear. With 35's "I" recommend 4.10 or 4.56's, most of the debate here is primarily what transmission you have and what sort of wheelin you do.

Will work for beer, parts and tools.

Milage is tough... depends a lot of what is in the motor too. But if you want decent milage I wouldn't run a Holley. I rarely ever recomend Holleys for the street... they tend to eat gas a bit more, burn out plugs a touch faster, and need to be adjusted more often. But a good tuned Holley will be ok. Best miliage would be w/ a quad or an Edelbrock. I love the edelbrocks... easy to work with and still great power. The truck I built for my buddy... I built a most stock 350 w/ 9.0 compression, a Comps Cams 260H cam, 600 edel carb w/ a 700r4, 3,42's, and 33's w/ a 2" body lift... he was nailing out 13 mpg... 14 or almost 15 if he really feathered it... but mostly 13. Beats my EFI blazer which is still luggingat 10 (stupid 3.08's grrr....)

My truck gets 12 city, 14 highway. It's an 87 as well. 700r4, TBI, 3" body lift. 33s w/ 3.73 gearing. I would think that the EFI would give me better mileage than that. But, apparnetly that's as good as it gets, according to other members. Anyway, it's not like it matters after 35" tires. I don't think any amount of gearing will help fight the drag on those meats.

yeah... I still think mine may have something dragging or causing friction in the driveline... if you let of the gas on the freeway it slows real quick and sometimes seems like I'm hauling a trailer. My old 90 pickup had 3" body lift and 33's and it was getting about 13 to 14... almost 15 on the freeway. I think that is tops. I really wish I had bought the carb blazer w/ fresh paint cause I'm so close to trashing the TBI crap it is unreal. I'm all GM, but even F**d had a port injection out in 1985... it takes GM until 97 to finally get it in their trucks... unreal.

You guys may think I'm full of crap, but I'm not. I was gettting aprox 200 miles on a tank. 32 gal tank, 88 K5 tbi, 700R4, 3.73:1 gear & 33" BFG M'T's. I just reset my timing dead nuts on 0 deg. BTDC and I"m at 176 miles and not even at 1/2 tank yet. I don't think I'm doing much of anything different. but it is hard to believe that a simple stupid thing like that would make a difference as to double my gas mileage!
