Just wondering what kinda gas mileage, (if there is such a thing!) some of you are getting it out there and how you are getting it, good or bad. Not that it matters, just curious I guess.

I think there was a post a couple of weeks ago about this. Anyway, my 87 w/ 3" body lift, 33" tires (probably 31s by now), 3.73 gears and 700R4 tranny. Gets around 12 city, 15 highway, which is pretty good for a K-5. All that missing metal probably helps too.... @*(&#$ body rot....

I have an 87 w/ a 350 TBI, 700r4, and 3.0blahhhhh...sorry... 3.08 gears. It gets roughly 10 or 11 miles per gallon... occasionally 12. The funny thing is over the past month I have left it in 3rd all the time and I do a lot of freeway driving for short distances... maybe 10 minutes tops... but it would roar down the freeway going 80 at about 3 grand... still the same milage hahaa...

Just thought I'd throw this out here. I'm going to do some performance mods to a Q-jet soon. Work on cleaning up the air flow around the air horn, boosters and blades. It should, in therory, improve all around performance, gas mileage, throttle responce, and be can done by anyone that has rebuilt one before with some exp. I'm kicking around the idea of building a home made flow bench and manometer to test it on. I'll keep you posted if anyone is intrested, I'll probably keep you posted even if your not.

RESTORE 89 - what gears did you have before you went to 4.11's and what mileage did you get then? I have 3.42's and 33's and get around 10-11, but am going to 4.11's soon.

My gears and such are stock (12bolt rear end) with a 350 bored .30 over and I'm guessing 10 gal to the mile...j/k I'm prolly getting about 8 city. I haven't driven it much on the highway. The stock worn out springs are sorta scary at times. I need to adjust the timing a little still. I also let it warm up every morning for 10 or 15 min. I don't know how much of a factor that is.

12.6 mpg avg. 4.10, 31X10.5, MSD ignition, and K&N filter. Just changed the O2 sensor with no improvement. Old one was bad though. It read .01 volts all of the time.

350, 700R4, 3.73 gears and 33"s, gets around 8-12 in town, 15-18 highway, depending on the gas. It'll get around 10 avg on ARCO, and 15 avg on Texaco.

I have an 86, 350, 5.7L, 33" tires, 700R4 tranny, carb....I get about 10-12 depending on conditions. I just bought a K&N air filter, Tornado, manual hubs, and some headers and am having the exhaust redone along with a carb rebuild (maybe tbi or fuel injection instead if I can afford it). I am also gonna dump my 3.08 gears, get a new ignition, replace all my other filters with K&N and maybe this will help things? I will let you know....

As for the brand of gas I don't think it makes a difference. They all for the most part are refined by the same places and simply sold out to different companies. In 99 I worked in Idaho and drove an average 125 a day for this camp with my Blazer. I used Texaco and Arco (what gas they bought for me to use) and they both did the same. On my off days from the camp I would buy Shell and same with them....all got me the same miles and all had me run the same....

When my blazer had 3.08 gears and 31" tires I got 16 city and 26 highway. Now that I have 4.56 gears I get 17 city and 18 highway. I like my 6.2L

I put on a new set of Edelbrock TES headers and Flowmaster 2 weeks ago. So I filled up with preimum after I inastaled them.
I just got back from filling up the tank. It took 22 gals to go 350 miles City and Highway. that works out to around 16 mpg average. Not bad considering I had my foot into it off and on to test out the new exahust.
My K5 has always got pretty good mileage. But It is a lot better now.
