Gas Tank

    I bought an 87 k5 about a month ago but my gas gauge is messed up when my tank is completly empty it still reads 3/8 of a tank. Any susgestions?

    Probably excessive resistance in the circuit.

    Mke sure your sending unit is grounded properly. Check for rust/corrosion at both ends of the ground wire and along it's entire length.

    If it is ok, Check for rust/corrosion at both ends of the gauge wire and along it's entire length.

    If all the wires and connections check out ok, then it's either a bad sending unit or a bad gauge.
